Dressing

Why does a picture catch our eye,
Make our heart race
Inspire thoughts and fantasies?

I found this picture weeks ago when looking for some Flash Fiction Friday inspiration.  I contributed a picture but kept this one to myself.  It's cute, but it doesn't inspire me to write, I makes me think though...

How young is she?  (Should I even be looking?)
Are those her Minnie Mouse ears or her little sisters?
Where is she going?
Why is she getting dressed?
I want to see what she puts with those hose and the cute ruffled panties.
Do the piles of clothes on the floor indicate indecision or bad laundry management?
Maybe she's dressing for her first night with a new boy, the date where everything gets shaved, plucked, waxed, trimmed and prepared.

The picture is generic but provoking at the same time, but even as I write out the questions none of them spark a story in me, nothing seems to lead from the first to second sentence.  It caught my eye because, I think, it reminds me of picking up Katherine on a date.  She was running late, I had a mad crush on her, and she invited me into her bedroom to help her get ready.  In her bra and panties we laughed and joked as i tried to form coherent thoughts and keep from staring too much.

I realized later that she invited me in to her 1/2 naked state because she knew that nothing would happen between us, ever.  At that moment, in that second I walked in and talked instead of stepping across the room and taking her in my arms, I entered the Friend Zone.  And I remained there for the rest of our time together.

That's not what this post is about thought, it's about a picture that caught my eye, but couldn't inspire me.
I still like the picture though.

I like the photo, too. And I like the story it inspired you to write about Katherine.

Katherine was a lost cause from the beginning, but I will fell in love with her.

That does look like me when I'm getting ready!! I like both pictures. And I cannot wait to see the picture you have submitted for FFF! (or maybe it has been already done and I'll feel like an idiot for not remembering it)
