Prayers for a friend

I received work late Saturday night that my friend's daughter has been rushed to the emergency room.

I told her that my thoughts, hopes, and prayers were with her and her family and that no mother should have to see their child in such dire straits.  We talked briefly, via e-mail, about God and how she wished she believed more.    She and I have different beliefs in God, the afterlife, and if either one exist.  I told her that God didn't mind if we doubted, and, like a patient Father, awaits our call.

I post this today with a heavy heart as she struggles with life and death of her dear child.  I wish I could do more.  Thought the Internet brings us together at the speed of e-mail, but the world still keeps us very far apart.

I ask any who reads this blog, of any faith, to raise a prayer of hope and support for my friend, and to those who do not share in this faith, raise a thought of hope for a troubled mother.

I just wanted to say how very grateful I was for your thoughts and prayers and to let you know how my daughter is now.

After a long and worrying night, with doctors, tubes, drips and no response she turned a corner. Once the corner was turned her recovery was almost miraculous. Never have I felt so relieved to have her cross and feisty.

My daughter is feeling rather sorry for herself, is ashamed of her actions, but is home again and seems to have survived her experience. Such is the resilience of the young I suppose. I suspect it may take me a little longer to recover.

Thank you, once again, from bottom of my heart.

It's good to know that she is on the mend, thouroughly grounded, and ready for an appropriate series of well crafted parental lectures....

:-) You're a good mom, she'll be fine.
