I broke down and read Hunger Games and then saw the movie. But I like that type of genre. But I think I'll pass on Shades of Grey as well.
Anyway, it's sumer who wants to have to concentrate on what you're reading when one really wants to concentrate on who is walking around the pool.
I have the book but have not read it yet. I hope it is enjoyable as a diversionary, light relief sort of a thing. Nothing beats the real thing (forgive the pun) though ;-)
I read Fifty Shades while on vacation several weeks ago. Some hot moments and some clunky writing, but overall an easy, enjoyable read.
I won't get into my impression of their fledgling attempt at a D/s relationship. Suffice to say it didn't leave me with any longing feelings to change things with Drake!
I will read the books, but understand your sentiment. While in my own writings, I hear Wolf's voice when one of my characters speaks. That is because I wrote with his voice in my head. However, reading other people's stories I don't hear Wolf, because as you so eloquently said...it is not him.

Ryan - I enjoyed the 1st Hunger Games, but didn't read 2, or 3. I have too many friend on-line to read, I don't need to waste my time with Shades.
Tame - LOL.... Maybe after the frenzy has died down and you can get it for $1 on Amazon's used book list. Just watch out for the stained pages.
Luna Moon - I think it's D/s light from what I've heard. A friend of mine is reading it and admits to being aroused, but not enough to try anything in that style. I think she just likes and excuse to think about it.
Word - It is hard to keep other voices out of you head while writing. I have enough of my own voices there already.
