Where are we going?
North
Why?
Because
Because why?
Because I said so.
So bossy.
Shut up.
You need to be quiet.
You got us in this mess, now, I have to get us out, again.
The fuel gauge was on empty, but I couldn't take the risk of
stopping in the city, too many CCTV posts, too many policemen, and way too many
people looking for us. I took Sunset to
the coast and drove past the mansions and homeless encampments. Both made me depressed. The sunshine felt good on my bare shoulders,
but I couldn’t enjoy that for the moment.
We had to get 35 miles north on PCH before dark. One missing headlamp, courtesy of a 9mm round
from that goon on Wilshire meant we couldn’t drive at night without attracting
suspicion. I just needed to get us to
the “Son of a Beach” hotel and we’d be fine.
Vincent would hide the car, his wife would hide us, and we’d be safe
until dawn if they didn’t sell us out for the bounty.
We joined PCH on the downhill side of the California Incline,
and I reached under my skirt and shimmied out of the black lace. He inhaled deeply as I held it under his nose. I turned north then tossed the wet silk out
the window.
We can’t have any evidence, right?
Well, that was fun.
Good Night everyone!
